    17th Annual Montford Point Marine Day Ceremony

    & Congressional Gold Medal Presentation


    Friday, August 28, 2026


    Join us as we celebrate and honor the Montford Point Marines.


    The Montford Point Marines were the first African Americans who entered the United States Marine Corps from the period of 1942 to 1949, and trained at the segregated training facility, Montford Point Camp, New River, North Carolina.


    During this event, we will also present the Congressional Gold Medal replica to the family of Montford Point Marines, posthumously.

    Location: Lejeune Memorial Gardens, 109 Montford Landing Road, Jacksonville, NC.

    Note: In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be relocated to Bldg. M104 aboard Camp Johnson. Limited seating and base access required.


    Itinerary:

    • Ceremony begins at 8:00 a.m.
    • Followed by self guided tour of the Montford Point Museum. Base access required.
    • Friday Night entertainment available at The Point, 148 Brynn Marr Road.


    Additional Information:

    This is an outdoor event.

    All personnel attending ceremony are subject to search by Marine Corps Base PMO.

    Limited parking at the Lejeune Memorial Gardens. Overflow parking across the street at the Veteran Cemetery.

    Meet & Greet, Wednesday, 26 August 2026 at The Point, Doors open 5pm. Free Entry

    Scholarship Golf Tournament, Thursday, 27 August 2026 at Paradise Point Golf Course

    Friday Night Party, Friday, 28 August 2026 at The Point. Doors open 9pm. Entry $10

    Motorcycle Memorial Ride, Saturday, 29 August 2026 at The Point. Registration 9am.

    Base Access: 

    All guests age 18 and over that do not have current base access will need to apply. If the driver is driving a rental just put “RENTAL” in the vehicle section. Reminder, driver and passengers ages 18 and up need to apply.
