SgtMajor of the Marine Corps

SgtMaj McMichael He assumed his post as the 14th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps on 1 July 1999. His tenure as the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps saw the establishment of the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and the commencement of the Global War on Terrorism. He was the first African-American Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.

SgtMaj John L. Estrada was the 15th Sergeant Major of the United States Marine Corps. He succeeded Alford L. McMichael on June 26, 2003, becoming the 15th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.[1] [2] Estrada stepped down on April 25, 2007, turning over the post to SgtMaj Carlton Kent. Estrada is due to retire from the Marine Corps in June 2007, after over 34 years of service.

Sergeant Major Carlton W. Kent is the current Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, assuming the post on April 25, 2007.[1] [2][3] [3]He succeeded SgtMaj John L. Estrada, who had been serving in that capacity since June 2003.
